This two-LP, RPM record will be included in an upcoming Bill Evans box set on Analogue Productions. In , Bill Evans was virtually unknown (it would be more than a year before he first gained notice as part of the celebrated Miles Davis Sextet).

Description. vinyl LP reissue of his debut solo album. A significant date in the history of legendary pianist Bill Evans' recording career, New Jazz Conceptions marks his maiden voyage as a leader and finds the then year-old pianist already sounding much different than the usual Bud Powell-influenced keyboardists of the time.

Bill Evans (born William John Evans; 16th August th September ) was one of the most famous jazz pianists of the twentieth century. Along with McCoy Tyner and Oscar Peterson, he was the force behind the biggest evolution in jazz piano since Art Tatum and Bud Powell.

A compelling album of twin-piano lines – one in which Bill Evans and Bob Brookmeyer play head-to-head, in a spiraling modernist style that brings out the best in each player! Although Brookmeyer's best known as a trombonist, he's pretty great here on piano – and the album's a real treasure from his legendary late 50s years – a time when Bob was really opening up tremendously in his music!

Bill Evans "New Jazz Conceptions" is a very strong debut Album. It is one of the most energetic Bill Evans records that I've heard, which may have been a result of his youth, especially if you compare it to "Everybody Loves Bill Evans" which is also a fabulous record but a bit more typical of the introspective Bill Evans style we all know and love/5(27).
