The surreal cover for this CD accurately reflects the strange and haunting music of "The Penguin Cafe Orchestra". this is not the disc for those who prefer the Orchestra's more 'folksy' music (other than the first track ['Bean Fields'], which can be found on other "P.C.O's" CDs). It is best 'absorbed' rather than consciously 'listened to'.Reviews:

Signs of death, rather. This albums very stringly indicates that Simon Jeffes was losing his magic touch. Even though there are a variety of different line-ups, the alertness of the earlier PCO albums is largely gone, and the album feels like a repetition of things Jeffes had done more convincingly earlier on.

Jan 10,  · The album has a general bittersweet air, more sunset than sunrise, and balances its foot-tappers with its moments of quiet repose ("The Snake and the Lotus (The Pond)," the lengthy closing number "Wildlife"). An excellent place to start if interested in the band, and one of their finest hours. Tracks Bean Fields -
